Art exhibition opening in the Wadden Sea, Denmark

Bringing In the Tide is an outdoor art exhibition in the Northern Wadden Sea in Jutland, Denmark, which is the world’s largest contiguous tidal flat area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I’m one of the participating artists, collaborating with Carlo Sass Sørensen, Coastal Engineer at the Danish Coastal Authority and the Technical University of Denmark, on a piece opening today.

Drawing on scientific data Carlo has gathered through the Copernicus Sentinel 1 satellite and ground-based reflector monitoring of coastal dynamics, I have created the myth Legacy – A Fairytale for the Future, along with a ritual where amber rings are stacked up each year, with each ring representing that year’s rise in sea level.

A visual demonstration of the project can be found here: https://ourlegacy.earth/

At the ground-based reflectors in the Wadden Sea, a QR code leads to the story and explains how we intend to use and communicate the information.
