Footage from Dreamland can be seen in Charles Ferguson’s Oscar Award winning doc, Inside Job. LoveStar was named “Novel of the Year” by Icelandic booksellers and received the DV Literary Award and a nomination for the Icelandic Literary Prize. His children’s book, The Story of the Blue Planet—now published or performed in thirty countries, was the first children’s book to receive the Icelandic Literary Prize and received the Janusz Korczak Honorary Award.
Reveiws and comments:
The Story of the Blue Planet:
“Dahl-like wit and a couple of eccentrically Arctic moments […] make this a memorable and provocative tale, and a splendid opener for discussions about our own blue planet.” Starred review, Publishers Weekly
“Orwell, Vonnegut, and Douglas Adams are felt on every page, though Magnason is never derivative. His satire and insightful social commentary sweeten the pot and the sheer wackiness of Magnason’s oversized imagination is invigorating.” Starred Review. Publishers Weekly.
Dreamland – a Self Help Manual for a Frightened Nation:
“I have a feeling this is an universal problem our generation will find solutions to. This book is one of these solutions.”
Dreamland – (The film)
“This is one of the best environmental films ever made. An incredibly, moving, inspiring and fantastically political film that will make you want to be a better steward of this planet.” ***** Art Threat
